Wallin, did you find any today?
Fished from around 8am to 2pm and it was slow.
Lots of dinks, I didn't keep anything under 9 inchs I guess.
Ice Cleat fished with me a got a few nicer fish, he had 9 or 10 I believe.
Nice breeze kept it cooler all day, 29 to 30 ft is where we found  the bigger fish.
Talked to other boats that got limits but I only keep smaller fish if they swallowed the hook.
To hard to clean lol. Fat head minnows are what i use and throw in a few crappie minnows.

Heres mostly what I use, i have lots of them, I just found these T-Turn and I caught lots of fish on these yesterday.
The other rigs are mostly from Bass pro in the crappie area made by the name on the package. Theres tons of drop shot rigs I use mostly for drifting using the dead stick lazy guy method, lol.

Everyday is a gamble when perching.
Here today gone tomorrow.
Some days you find some bigger ones some days there all dinks.
My freezers looking good and thats what counts lol.
Just gotta get out there and try when weather permits, its always a
good day when your on the water, fish are a bonus.

Question ? My personal preference on perch is to eat them skin on.of course descaled . To me they taste so much better that way and cook better . BUT scaling is a mess and a pain in the butt ! That being said I'm considering buying a descaler ..... Any of you use on on perch ect..  and what's your thoughts on them are they worth the money . I figured as much as I perch fish the big lake it might be a good investment.... And when I say descaler I mean a fish tumbler

I try to keep them big enough to fillet.
No skin for me is my preferred method.
It'll work I'm sure if you want to do that much work.
There good any way you fix them.

To me I prefer even the big ones skin on . I've heard some guys say they use the slick skin scaler and they work great and I we heard other say no..... I usually clean 40 plus at a time by myself so if it is worth the 230 bucks I may invest into one of it's gonna save me the extra mess time and stabbed fingertips then it may be worth it

I have always found that the skin side has a hard time holding the batter.

Fished again Sunday,  managed a meal for 4 of us at camp. Had to move east of where we were fihi g to get them. Most came in the later part of the day. Will try again... came home Monday morning with the bad weather moving in.

The tumblers I've seen either turn the meat to mush right on the bone or you had to finish scaling anyway. Table spoon is what I use but I don't do forty at a time.
