No fishing this weekend and probably not next. Hope the week after brings them back. Need to put more in freezer.

The tumblers I've seen either turn the meat to mush right on the bone or you had to finish scaling anyway. Table spoon is what I use but I don't do forty at a time.

Ya I've heard that if you don't pull this out at the perfect time that can happen . A buddy of mine bought a little plastic deal to scale them and he said it works great. Makes a mess but works good . Maybe I'll give that a try first

Back before we learned to filet them we would use a skinner to peel off the skin, and when cleaning the crappie we had nailed old pop bottle caps onto a handle. This worked really well. Just gave them scales a real fly, they were everywhere. Had to do the cleaning outside. Have you noticed the batter doesn't stay on the skin side of your fish????

According to noaa, the lake is not too rough. Maybe someone will venture out and hook a few. LET US KNOW...

We had a great day, took awhile for me and Ice Cleat to find some bigger fish but we found them. Probably
caught close to 80 fish between us 2 but alot of sorting.  Always do your own weather check, never depend on others.
It was a good day to be on the water.

Friend got 12 keepers out of NB.
Were trying it again tomorrow.
It might get a little ruff.
