Compared to last year the fishing was slow... To much bait for them.... Schmelts every where........... When it got dark the shore line in spots was just loaded with schmelts, and if you shined a spotlite you could actually watch fish zoom in and grab some schmelts........

After that we went 6 1/2 hours before we caught another one... I got one small dink and Dean got another one about 2 1/2 lbs..

Only one team weighed in 5 fish and only 3 teams had 4 fish.... Alot of teams never caught a keeper.. There were 23 teams..

Chucker brought a bunch of them, I was lucky enough to grab a few. Never thought to try them in a stream though.

Smelt are great to eat...
For that lake they are average, but there are some bigger ones that run 15 to20 pounds.....

Not good.... Spent the first hour after take off trying to get my partners boat started.. By time we got to "our" spot it was picked over pretty good...... The rest of the day was just a bummer.... Sometimes the motor would start right up and sometimes it took some time....

That's why I went fishing yesterday too. I had a hunt planned, but bagged it due to 85 degree temps. I'll be out in the woods this weekend for sure.
