  • Screw the BS, let's go fishing.
Well I'm starting off this year's open water angling adventures just like last years, with pond carp.  My buddy Jon convinced me that carp would bite in late winter during a snowstorm with heavy winds at night.  Well...he was right, they did.  For our hour of effort, we  caught one each that fought hard enough to tangle our rods each time  :D

how did I guess that you would start us out with some fresh open water pictures of a few carp on the bank.  :thumbup_smilie: WTG
Fishing isn't a matter of life or death, it's much more important than that!

Very nice! Neither rain nor snow nor dark of night will stop you from hooking up with old bugle mouth.

Man, Bigred, you are hardcore! Fishing for carp in a snowstorm at night might even top your office pond fishing story -- no fish is safe when Bigred's awake!

Congrats on catching some early season fish, under tough conditions, too.  I don't think that I've ever caught a carp, but it sounds like they are good fighters, eh?

I wonder if the whiskers are moving around in the river yet?

A couple of slimers is a nice way to get the bends out of the line.

Just make sure you don't throw back a state record this year.

Thanks for the nice words everyone ;D

Bigred: How about some recipes ,what's your favorite way to cook them? :D

I've found the best way is to nail them to a pine board, season to preference, cook at 350 for 1 hour, throw out the fish, eat the board :D

I wonder if the whiskers are moving around in the river yet?

Jon has been out for them a few times and hasn't gotten anything yet.  I'm guessing its gonna take 40+ degree water to get them moving

Just make sure you don't throw back a state record this year.

Oh man...there's no way we're going to let that happen again :o

Fish on Lance!!!
Oh Lord,
There he is.
Feels like a big one.
Please don’t let me lose him.
I’ve never caught one this big before.
I’ll try not to horse him.
And if I land him I promise to release him
And make a graphite replica...
If my wife says it’s okay.
Thank you for the Rapalas.
Amen.
