New York legislature passes bill to end wildlife killing contests
Set to become ninth state to stop the senseless slaughter

Today, the New York state legislature passed a bill that ends inhumane wildlife killing contests, in which participants compete to kill the most, the heaviest and the smallest animals for cash and prizes.

deer, turkey, bear and fishing contests are still permitted.  The legislation seems to be geared primarily at coyote, fox, raccoon, etc contests.

The humane society is behind it they will start with this and end with all hunting banned.

No doubt that is their agenda.  That is why it is so important for us to recruit new and younger hunters and fishermen.  Also it's important that we portray ourselves in an accurate, positive light.  The vast majority of hunters and fishermen are ethical and we consume what we harvest.  There is a movement towards non commercially raised meat.  I hope this encourages some of them to join our ranks.
