Rocky Mountain Whitefish at Glenmore Dam in Calgary
« on: May 26, 2004, 09:11 AM »
When I was a kid in Calgary, around '56 to '58 we used to catch RM whitefish below Glenmore Dam.  We used about a #12 hook, wrapped with white cotton sewing thread to make it look like a fly maggot, attach a split shot  above the hook, and lower the rig about 60 feet down to the water near the overflow hole (??).  This was where the water came out on the north side of the spillway.  It was the darndest thing trying to lift those little guys 60' up.  If we got a bigger one, we'd walk it down around the concrete abutment to the rocks.  Does anybody still catch those fish there?  Sure was fun for kids.

Can't help you on that one. I've never fished the Glenmore. I'm wanting to try sometime bud my fishing buddies are scared to go there.
