Every winter it gets tougher.
The neuropathy in my feet required that I quit ice fishing about 4-5 years ago.
And shortly thereafter I also had to give up any outdoor activities that required any substantial time being spent out in the cold.
I gave all my gear to my son Jeff.
He's been getting things ready lately and he even bought a 3rd hut.
I've been watching him and discussing things and wishing I could go with him.
But I don't dare.
Lest I end up suffering with absolutely unbearable pain for 2-3 days afterwards.
But last night when I got home from work I decided to shovel the drive before heading in the house.
I live by the airport in Buffalo, NY.
A little north of where the heavy snow fell yesterday.
Less than 10 miles south of us they got 28" in Blasdell/Hamburg area.
Just a mile south of me they got 12".
I got like 3-4" at my house, and it was very light snow.
Lake effect snow bands are strange as to who they select.
So no snowblower...........I used the shovel.
Only took 20-25 minutes and I probably could have even used a push broom.
Today I'm paying for it.
The feet are on fire.
But I still think it was worth the pain.
I really do enjoy the outdoors and fresh air.
I even thought about going back out about 8:30-9 last night and cleaning things up again.
But decided not to push things.
In 4-5 yrs Donna and I plan to retire and move far south into southern Florida.
Down south of Sarasota, near Fort Meyers.
Then the pain won't be as bad, and I can fish and spend more time outdoors 12 months out of the year.
I look forward to this.
But in the meantime................come on Summer!!!!!
