Help finding Gills. (sylvan)
« on: Jul 13, 2013, 08:33 AM »
Unfortunitally due to family plans tomorrow I will not be able to go perching. I never really have fished for gills this time of year on a lake.  Where should I start looking?  Deep holes?  Weed edges? Any certain depth?  Any help is great, Thank you.

I have never fished  sylvan , but i would start at the weeds esp if they are close to deeper water , take a couple different types of live bait and maybe some small spinners and jigs .

I too have never fished Sylvan but with temps warming up through the next few days I would start at the weeds and work towards drop offs.
If at first you don't succeed, don't go skydiving.

There are no fish in this river.... wait! what the.... I got one!!!

We were catching them in about 10ft of water today on another lake, near weeds. My go to bait is red wigglers. Good luck and give us a report of how you do.

If you go early morning try a sandbar, did really well two weeks ago between 6-7 am they were feeding right on the drop off between the weed-line.

I just got a nice mess of the other night(different lake) fishing in about 10' down in 23' of water.  We were not too far off of the weedline.  We used crickets and bee moths.  Most of them we caught were on crickets.  We were fishing on a flat with deeper water close by.

Unfortunitally there must of been a tournamemt going on so we couldnt even park there.  Went to Sacarider instead and got the skunk.   still a beautifull day.
