last nites pics...bullheads & eels
« on: Jun 14, 2007, 06:39 AM »
My and my brother went out last night for a little night fising ...ended up landing 5 eels and 8 bullheads....we lost a lot more to breakoffs from eels. Most of the bullhaeds and eels were quite small but were still fun to catch. Here's a few pics

Brother got us started off with a bullhead

A pretty small bullhead by me

A good start to the eels

Bullheads got bigger as it got darker

A couple small eels

Brother with the biggest bullhead of the night...although not that big

The biggest eel of the night...28 inches...tried to get a pic with the tape for the tourny but it proved quite imposible without killing the eel so it would stay still so ill wait for a bigger one

Neat fish fish_finder. :)

Both types fish look like fun to angle for.

I am not familiar with eels, how do they fight?
Similar to a pike, walleye or other?

What would 28 inch eel weigh?

What is considered a big eel regarding weight and length?

Do you eat eels?
I know in some areas people really like to eat them.

Eels fight like nothing ive ever hooked..its kind of weird they dont take runs put pull backwards constantly while they twist and turn wrapping themselves in coils like a snake...they are very strong i use 8-10 lb and still get break offs from bigger ones, they are a great fight on a medium action rod. The 28 incher is a pretty decent one but we've gotten them up to 3 feet, about as thci as a tennis ball...not sure on the weight of them i would guess big one about 3-4 lbs. never ate one before just like catchin them
