Crappie rod suggestions
« on: Mar 13, 2021, 09:09 AM »
i fish lots of small lakes, ponds and slow rivers for Trout and Crappie out of my 12 ft kayak.

I am all set with trout rods.

I don't want a long Crappie rod because its difficult in a 12 ft kayak.

Any suggestions on a 6 ft ultra light 1 piece spinning rod?

Thanks
John

There are some real sweet Crappie rods that fit your exact description last time I was at Dover Marine. Fenwicks.
It’s not being Cocky if you can back it up.

I looked at them hard because it fits the prototype of what I need salmon fishing upstream where others don’t go. I think you’d be impressed.

My father found a really nice rod like you describe at Cabelas for cheap. It was an IM8 blank I think on sale for like $20. He shook everyone on the rack until he found the right one. I will say I have another IM8 in the same speed/power and it’s crap compared to the one my dad found.

I picked up a Fenwick Eagle rod. Its medium light, fast tip, 6 ft one piece.

I matched it up with my Mitchell 308 (made in France ) from the 60s (birthday present from my gramps)

Works great, light weight, casts smooth, reel is a perfect balance.

Headed out when the rain and wind stops
