Not much better than spending time in the shop with your son.
If you’re going to do picture framing look into a mitre shear/trimmer. No mitre saw can match the quality and accuracy. I had one for years in my cabinet shop. They’re a couple hundred bucks, but if you’re doing any amount of framing, they’re invaluable. I have a $150 100t Marples blade on a $600 DeWalt mitre saw and it doesn’t even come close to what that trimmer could do. You can shave paper thin slices to make perfect fits.
Also look into picture frame corner V-nails. They’re the nutz for fastening corners.
About the only things I miss about that business are the tools and machinery I had.

Never heard of the mitre shear/trimmer. Pretty cool tool! Found this video that clearly explains and shows how they work.

Do you think fish go home and lie about all the bait they stole?
Early to bed, early to rise
Fish all day and make up lies...
There's a reason they call it fishing, not catching.

The video gives you an idea of how accurate it can be. Mine was mounted to a solid table and bolted to the floor. I built a small table extension to make it easier to handle long pieces. In the shop we mostly used it for face trims on cabinets.
Just don’t get your fingers in the way.

I started making the garden boxes again this weekend. Listed them on Facebook marketplace today and sold 5 of the 48 x 24 boxes in an hour and a half. Maybe I should have charged more. Oh well,

That’s a good start to retirement. Just don’t let it become a job or anything
I’ve been busy making stuff for the farmers market. It starts 6/15 so I’ve got some time to produce. Have to think about displays once I get a pile of stuff made.

Hey!!!!
If any of you woodworkers have belt driven machines....drill press, table saw, lathe etc, change your belts to link belts. I did my drill press today and the difference is astounding. I put one on the band saw when I was restoring it. All the vibration caused by a v-belt .....gone. Same with the drill press. V- belts take a set when they sit for any length of time.
Yeah they seem pricey, but worth every cent. The 3/8” are twice the price of the 1/2”. 1/2” can be found at Harbor Freight ( where I bought them). 3/8” are limited. Got mine on Amazon.

Make me very happy Dom. I’ve been using a couple and they seem to work well.
What kind of bobbers are you interested in DD?
