Foggy morning slabs
« on: Aug 05, 2018, 03:32 PM »
Took a quick solo trip this morning and found a few Crappie and White Perch to take back home for supper. It was nice to get on them early and get off the pond before it got too hot.

On another note I spent some time this spring and early summer with a boat project.  I fished out of this beat up 16 foot aluminum last year that my cousin had given me. I had a little 6 hp Johnson on it and it got me around okay, but I needed a little more.

After buying a 30 hp Johnson for it this spring I decided to dive in. Well, as I scrounged up some used parts and salvaged lumber, I came out with this at the end.

Turned out to be a fun and gratifying little project and honestly not a crazy amount of money.  The boat is really nice to fish out of now and is perfect for panfishing.

Nice Artie. I haven't been lurking much here, been chasing stripers.

Nice crappie and a great improvement on the watercraft.

When you get a day, give me a shout for a striper run.

Thanks Bob.  That would be fun. I am really busy right now but if I see a window of opportunity I will let you know.

Good eats, and great job on the makeover. That 30 must push her right along!

That 30 hp runs like a top. Pushes it along nicely.  Big difference from the 6hp.  The 6hp was really for my 12 ft aluminum I just used it to see how the 16 foot fishes.

Thanks for the nice comments everyone.
