Need new lead core
« on: Apr 05, 2018, 05:09 PM »
I've always had Cortland kerplunk and can't find it now.  The sticker that came in the package with the color list was pretty handy too.  Does anyone know where to find it?  What are folks using now?

The first batch wasn't the best but I've heard its been fixed / improved. I run it now.

Bass pro sells the Suffolk, I've been using that for a year, it still looks good.

I use Suffix and have never had a problem with it. For a while, I ran the Cabela's thinner lead core and it was junk.

Sufix advanced leadcore has worked well for me.  They don't give it away though.

Is that the stuff with the higher sink rate? I have looked at a few of the new types of leadcore which claim to have more sink with less line on the reel, but as you mentioned the price made me balk considering I have acces to a few hundred colors of the old stuff  for pretty much nothing.

Tuf-Line microlead is the way to go. Same sink rate per color as regular lead but much thinner due to modified outer braid design. You can get a lot more on your spool, drag a lot more behind planer boats and it's much easier on your jigger motors if your using a jigger.

Yes it is and I can tell you having beat the snot out of my nk28's in rocks that if you are at the right speed 7ft a color is easily had.

Being that its the only thing that connects me to the fish I dont mind spending the money and found the performance to be worth it.

Cool, thanks. I’ll have to try some out this summer.
