salmon river
« on: Oct 13, 2018, 12:28 AM »
well my salmon river trip got cut short early. first day had 4 hookups and lost all them. second morning 12 hookups and landed 2. 19lb hen and a 18lb buck. i will post pics soon. i honestly didnt enjoy the style of fishing up there. its basically just snagging fish in the mouth thats all i view it as. i dont consider that "fishing" in my eyes. i view fishing as a head game of outsmarting a fish and getting them to take your hook. not just forcefully hooking them in the mouth as they swim by. maybe ill try it again for steelhead a fish that will actually bite your offering. not a real sporting way of fishing to me at all. catching them in the lake is way better.

I took my first trip up this year and kinda felt the same way. Those salmon were awesome to watch though. Still can't compute how they can jump 2/3 foot out of 1' of water.

After 40 + years of witnessing the runs here the browns and steelhead will definitely be more to your liking SASS

That's the reason I haven't ever done it. Just not what I consider sport or fishing. I do know some guys have gotten them the "right" way tho.

I tell ya when I was younger I anxiously awaited the run and spent all types of money to catch those dying fish and I loved every minute of it. It's worth experiencing and any kid you take will remember it forever, I took my son last yr and he is begging to go this year but the water is too high near here for me to wanna go. It never gets old until you do LoL!!
done dirt cheap!

Could you imagine the draw it would get if they weren't just snagging spawning fish in the face? There are people who call chasing stocking trucks "fishing" and shooting deer at feeders "hunting".. Not saying its wrong, but its not what I consider sport.
