Yes I use charcoal if you Google filing cabinet smoker you'll find all kinds of ideas. My suggestion is make sure you get a heavy duty old filing cabinet like from the 40s-70s 80s with all metal rollers and barrings. I wish I could post a video for ya of mine in action
