Carp in Saskatchewan
« on: May 26, 2014, 05:59 PM »
Hey guys! im just curious, has anyone ever tried or had much luck fishing for carp in sask? I have heard of people bow fishing them in Last mountain and also in kip/barrier river. I frequently go to barrier and want to try my luck at em. You just dont hear to much about people targeting carp there. so has anyone had any luck there or other places around saskatchewan?

I frequently target them on the qu'appelle lakes and last mountain. Average 12-20lbs most of the fish we catch with many 30lbers and my big one at 42lbs. Takes some practice and a lot of scouting to find a good spot but well worth the effort if your looking for some good fights

Far as I know the only river systems that have carp are the qu'appelle and Assiniboin.

How has everyone been doing for carp this year in SK., any big ones or numbers?

Are they still in the rivers and shallows or have they moved into the main lake areas now?

A guy at work had a picture of a dead carp on barrier. It looked to be about 20lbs.
