The retention pond looked like this a couple weeks ago.

This is the vortex of water flowing from the retention pond into the big pond. About 12” across.

There were still some crazy golfers wanting to go out this morning. Some of the cart paths were under a foot of water.
My rain gauge just now.

Just over 4” since yesterday.

My biggest dilemma is what to do stuck inside…… :P

Thats a lot of rain !! I'm sitting in Ogunquit Maine and its raining like that here now too .... yesterday was really nice though .... might have to have more lobsters and clams to while the time away. :D
-
Lots of rain here in the midwest/Great Lakes too. About 2 1/2 inches a week.
But sadly out west it's as dry as ever.

Wow, I'd like to see some rain like that. Reservoirs are drying up and fires are going crazy out here.
-
Good thing it isn't winter time we would have had 4 feet of snow yesterday with as long as it rained. But yes things are a mess I have seen water in spots I've never seen water on the bright side lake Ontario shouldn't be as low now
-
Got over 2 inches of rain and the power was out for 12hrs!

I'm sorry to hear that. I hope things change for ya.
-
Wish I could ship you a few hundred thousand acre feet.
Erie Canal is up about 4’ from what I can see.

Yea, I would too, but take torrential rains here to help. Some fires in Montana are predicted to burn until snow flies. Four lakes pretty much drained around here, the one behind the house will survive this year, but another bad winter and spring and it'll be gone too. Farmers are feeding cows now because they have no grass, hay prices are through the roof and not any moisture in our long term forecast.

Me too, my favorite walleye lake could use a bunch.

Well there's another excuse to jack up the price of beef again even if other parts of the country are not having issues.

Sadly, that and pork/chicken will all most likely go up.

Erie Canal is closed from Lock E-2 in Waterford to Lock E-19, located in Frankfort

I thought this was pretty funny this morning.

One of the pros went out on #18 with a cart and tried to drive through 18” water on the cart path.
Looked like this yesterday morning.

Needless to say, the cart is still there.
Water is not a lot different today.

What was he trolling for?

Probably hawking golf balls.
My son just told me they set up the big water pump to try and help drain the retention pond. He described it as “a silly effort to try and drain a swamp”. About half of what’s there is below the level of the main pond.
-
The retention pond is at the top. The main pond below.

The cart path sign is at the left end of the tree line along the road. That whole area is under water. Wish I had an aerial picture of it now.
May go back with my fly rod. He said there were carp swimming in the 18 th fairway.

I use a trash pump that moves 200 gpm at 0 head to periodically drain my fish ponds for harvest. They can move a lot of water fast.
-
That’s what they have at the course. They’re used sometimes to pump off fairways under usual conditions, like an irrigation break. Nothing like this though.
-
Finally a bit of rain here, bit of relief from the oppressive heat.
-
Hope it stays there for a while.
-
Sadly, just a chance of rain tomorrow, so maybe a bit more relief, but then back into the oven again. Rain today went north of my house, so still really dry here.
-
Dam, love to see some rain, but mostly dry thunderstorms, 2 new fires this afternoon.
-
It’s bad out your way. Hope you stay safe and free from damage.
-
Yes it is, we'll be ok, lots of farm fields around us, just hate seeing the country burn up.

Good for that anyway. Best of luck.

Yep we'll need the luck dry thunderstorms every day, starting one or two new fires, thankfully they get on them right away, but one day one will blow up and we'll lose some more hunting grounds.

3 1/2" here today....... No mas......!
-
Anybody notice the haze from the smoke caused by all the fires out west and in Canada? It was really noticeable today in northern Indiana with a north to westerly wind.

Another 1/2" overnight. Glad it's all down hill from here.

Seen the haze while out fishing couple days last week

I was a bit hazy myself this morning. Didn’t have anything to do with the fires……just age.
