Ha I woukd love to say yes but I am not that lucky yet.  This fish is much less respected, unless you live in England.

Caught a lot of them as a kid.  Last one I caught while fishing on a party boat off Mass put a spine in my hand.  Horrible experience.  Captain was going to end the trip and take me in.  I said no mainly because the rest of the 60 fisherman would have strung me up.  Wound up getting some anti toxin vaccination at my doctor  back home.  Cousin drove me back to Rochester.

Two types I guess.  Spiney and smooth.  This was the smooth varity.  My understanding is if you eat fish and chips in England you are eating dogfish.  Also hear their fins fried are tasty.  This one nailed a fluke rig consisting of 2 spro bucktails.  Must have hit a spot in its mouth as it bled like a stuck pig!

Fatheads maybe but not bothering

Nice catch as always mcully. I’ll try that the next time I’m in a fingerlakes.  Hard to stop slow trolling my plastic swimbaits though.
I lived in Scotland for a year and had fish in chips a lot.  In Scotland at the time the two choices were skate “ wings” or what I called mystery fish.  Probably smoothe dogfish.  Great trout fishing where I was - Aberdeen.

Skate wings and cheeks ive had.  Smoked skate cheeks to be percise.  Ive been fluking alot recently, if I catch a skate its dead!
