Have a bunch of bobbers in the works.

So...its back to the fly tying bench. Here’s one I’ve been meaning to try. McPhail”s “Orgasma Nymph”

Not too bad for the first attempt. Have some other colors to play with.

That nymph pattern has some great possibilities. I really enjoy Davie McPhail’s work. He shares his techniques and knowledge freely with all fly fishers.  He’s creative, precise and seems very unassuming. All qualities I admire and aspire to.

Cold outside....warm at the fly bench.
Thought I’d play around with a balanced orgasma ice fly.

Not too bad really. That one is a #12 jig hook. Hangs pretty level.

I think a gill or perch would eat that.

Nice ties RG. I haven't played around with small jig hooks yet but its a long winter.  I did order some lively legz for the first time so I've been playing around with those.

Lovely legs....I think I knew her....oh wait....lively. ;)

Those are pretty cool looking.

Im still playing with that ribbon. Tried a few scuds.

I’m starting to get the hang of it. It’s interesting material.

I’ve got to clean up before I start anything else. My benches look like someone dropped a bomb.

Well, I stayed after this scud pattern I’ve been mulling over.

These I like. They really pick up light.

Those are #12. Can’t remember what nymph hooks they are but they’re pretty fine wire and need some added weight to get them down. Way back I bought 2 rolls of lead tape used for weighting golf clubs. It’s thin but I’ve learned how to cut strips using a rolling fabric cutter. It lays much flatter than lead wire and forms a better proportioned body....I think. It’s still really hard to avoid the big bump at the back tie in point. The fish probably don’t give a hoot.

Davie McPhail uses lead tape very effectively to weight nymphs. I’ve said over and over, he’s the best when I comes to instructional videos. And....”Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery”.

Here’s a sexy little organza nymph I was working on this morning.

Gotta find some more of this ribbon. I like the look.

Love the green eyes. Made from 12 lb fluorescent mono. Here’s what they do when the UV hits them.

They really pop.
