Who cares about April Fools Day
« on: Mar 31, 2021, 09:03 PM »
All this fuss about NY trout regulations and whether or not trout tastes better than talapia.

Who cares? I am a terrible stream fisherman. Probably due to lack of time spent trying learning how to be more effective.

So enjoy the trout opener for those who head out. I hope you’re all safe and successful.

The peepers are sounding off, I’m getting my bullhead gear ready!

I like the opening day of spring turkey season better. That’s the day I go trout fishing.

If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

Not having to fight opening day/weekend crowds......one of the many benefits of being retired  :whistling: ;)

Well there isn’t a whole lot of perks to getting older, someday you will look around kids all grown up and you’ll say wow time really does fly

There’s a ton of perks when getting older Fred.

You can ignore most anyone and claim you didn’t hear them ( even your Bride)
You can drive as slow as you want just to pee off the rush hour crowd
You can fish, hunt, nap and mow the lawn whenever the heck you please.
You can take a day off from anything that you thought you had to do
You can not do  anything you don’t want to and just say “I forgot”
You have all the time in the world to just chat with a friend you ran into

Best of all, today anyway, I can spend the morning puttering around in the “little wood shop” and spend the afternoon watching the NYY season opener with my Bride......while having a cocktail or two.

And.....ain’t nobody can tell me to do different.

Yup...getting older has its perks.

My Bride writes the day of the week and date on our kitchen marker board every night before she goes to bed so I have some idea. Sometimes I even look at it.

I'm far from retired and I haven't fished a trout opener ever no interest. Haven't fished a walleye opener from the boat in a good 7-8 years. I prefer some land spots for opening weekend and then take days off during the week to fish without the crowd

Even during the week of walleye opener Oneida bank fishing is busy , unless you have a private spot
Everyone has their own favorite opener , many like deer opener ,
