1st Flatties trip a sucess
« on: May 07, 2016, 07:07 PM »
Made it out for some Flounder today despite the not so great weather. It was wet cold raw. Wind was blowing and visability wasn't good. But between 2 of us we did mange 9 flatties 7 of which were keeper size. Most of the day was a skate fest and the usual million crabs as well as the 2 shorts. Was going to call it a day and decided to make 1 last stop. Glad we did.

Its only going to get better. Water temp was still only 49
I fish every chance I get and enjoy every time I fish. They call it fishing not catchin

They are one of the best tasting fish imo. I only had the pleasure to catch them on a party charter and I landed 1 from shore striper fishing at the merrimack.

Way back in the late 60's when I was a kid we would go camping on the ocean in Maine and catch them when the tide came in off a bridge. Also caught pollock. I believe it was Ogunquit, Maine? I hear it's all condos now and a tourist trap?

They are my favorite. Nice part is they are close to shore, easy to catch from kayak, and your daily limit ( 8 ) will last a long time.

They were kept to eat not hang on the wall. I donated them to a local disabled vet on a fixed salary that asked me to bring him some home to eat.
