Thanks Mac. Hope I can get some pics of them installed and full of books for people to share.

If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

Looks great as always .   But is it for a free book drop off?

Thanks Dom,
They're going in an upscale neighborhood on Canandaigua Lake. The idea is to leave a book....take a book. Yes...free.
Customer was pleased with them. I'll get some pictures when they're installed.

The customer was an older gentleman. Quite a bit older than me. His parting comment was, "Maybe we'll get some smart people who actually read books to use them."

Beautiful work Rg hope the free library program takes off in the Canandaigua Lake area. I have see a few of these free book exchanges in my area. Hopefully printed books do not become a museum exhibit item some day.

Very nice!!   There's a "network of them scattered around our area.  Each is unique and one of a kind.  I usually leave more than I find interesting enough to read.  Quite an eclectic mix of reading material in every one though. No fly tying books though.........

Those are very nice, Bob. I hope people wear the hinges off of them!   ;D

Thanks everyone. In thinking of builidng another one in a different style and donating it to our village.

On another note, my neighbor, who works in a custom cabinetry shop, has been builidng a solid hickory dining table for a customer. The support structure is painted 16/4 poplar  and the top is 12/4 hickory. He's been bringing me all of the cut off scrap. Later today I'm going to rip up a bunch for Christmas ornaments.

Time to start turning some wood.

So stinking hot and humid outside today, I retreated to the basement lair and stuck an air conditioned in the window. Got a start on turning up some Christmas ornaments.
Took a whack at some natural looking ornaments.

Turned one from hickory and one from African mahogany.

And turned a few for my son to paint up. ( he's an artist)

Fun stuff. Hope to sell a few this year.

Decided to turn some yo-yos.

Pretty fun project. I already have an order for 4 from one of the girls at work. Took one in with me today. Gave it to a friend and it went all over the store from employee to employee. It came back to me 4 hours later. They had a lot of fun with it.

Rg
they would be intersting to see...the pics didn't show.
take a kid hunting and fishing, it's a lot better than leaving them on the streets!!
