Michael Crampton of Niagara Falls must have thought he had bagged a huge mule deer when he hit the 400 pound beast. Unfortunately, he had mistaken the neighboring landowners’ donkey for a deer! (He said he couldn’t see its’ head) He was cited for “Unjustifiable killing of an animal" under the state’s Agriculture and Markets Law in addition to hunting over bait, a salt block. It's incredible that this numbskull could possibly think that an animal in the woods of that size could be a NYS Whitetail. This happened in Amity, NY and was in the new issue of the New York Outdoor News, a great publication, btw. Anyone else get it?
