Open water fever has hit me. The little saskatchewan below the Minnedosa dam is opening up. I have caught some beauty eater walleye in there before. I am tempted to try it before the end of the month.

[ You bet. I tried it two years ago and caught some small pike. It was fun. The river is really low this year. Sucker pool may have some pike left in it. Grumpy is not kidding about the geese. They have been there all winter along with two ducks. If I could fly I sure as hell would not stay in ice cold water all year long.

come on big walleye.
dont be so darn humble.. there has to be tons of spots along the river, that i guy could wade into without ever getting close to trouble. you know, i never actually bothered to watch for the suckers, but surely they must gather in alot of spots..some minor creek inflows must attract alot of them. i know you can't angle or dipnet downstream from the fish ladder within so many feet. cant remember just exactly how many..i believe its posted on a sign at the dam..

I don't think you can angle or dipnet within 25m of a fish ladder.
