East Housatonic
« on: Aug 15, 2023, 01:18 PM »
Today being the second day of a week long vacation, I seized the opportunity to fish the East Housatonic in Dalton from 9:45 AM to 11:15 AM this morning.

It was cloudy (sometimes sprinkling) and 65 degrees.  As one might expect given all the rain we had last night and earlier this morning, the stream levels were high.

Starting below the Depot Street dam, I caught a 10" brown and five (12" to 14") rainbows - - not (as I ordinarily would expect to) just below the dam, but a bit further downstream, near where a drain pipe empties into the river.

Driving further downstream, I walked down below the Housatonic Street bridge and landed a 13" brown - - once again, not immediately beneath  the roll dam, but instead in a run a little further below that.
