Canal in my section came up more than a foot in the past 2 days. Looks like I'll be good to go after  I get the hitch on my vehicle.

If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

Up another foot or so last night. Still fishable from shore for me. Found a few nice perch and bluegill with a bonus bullhead and this guy.

Around 4 lbs or so. Took a piece of worm about 1" long.

First carp of the year anyway.

If all your fishing buddies came over  and threw a fish into it, it should be pretty good! What do you think? ;D ;D ;D ;D

Its a fun stream for bluegill, Rockies and the occasional smallmouth. The downstream end from Alderman road to the canal is best.

That aside its a phenomenal stream for carp on the fly rod......if you have the patience.

Canal came up another few inches overnight.

I have spent a lot of time on it more so when I was a kid and would look forward to the middle of May when the water would clear up.

The canal is being filled between Pittsford and Newark locks. Most likely downstream from that as well.

My section has a few feet to go. Ill be happy to,get my boat in the water.

Latest announcement is that canal workers have returned to work and the canal should be entirely open by July 4. Hopefully they will complete the work on the Rochester lock33 and fill the sections through to Newark sooner than that.

Those sections fill mainly from the Genesee river. Im anxiously awaiting!

I was by the section between Amsterdam and Scotia yesterday, it seems so strange not seeing it filled. Did see some guys fishing what little water there is. Has to be like fishing in a barrel, if there are any fish in there....h2l
