Someone please settle this for me. Correct me if I'm wrong. There are only white perch and no silverbass in Oneida, right? unless they come in through the Canal. What's a sure sign to tell the difference between the two? Horizontal black line?

That is a great chart Locoman.

White perch are definitely not my favorite to eat. If you cut the blood line out they are kind of tasteless.

lot of people  call white bass  silver bass   "The white bass, silver bass, or sand bass (Morone chrysops) is a freshwater fish "  I still do  it's  no different then  crappies   being called  calico bass  or strawberrys

Sandy Pond used to have a great population of silvers in the 70's and early 80's. Used to cast small cleos in the spring and had a blast. Many were in the two pound range. About the same time of the year as the pig rockies.

I remember  in those days I spent a lot of time ice fishing the pond , had some big hauls , and in the spring at south wick  state park had a huge population coming in from lake ontario
