Well got out to a trout pond today for a while and my dad wooped me in fishing.   I got one dinky little bullhead and he hooked 5 brookies and landed 4 of them.

Her eis the pond

You can see my dad (Bensmen on here) on the right in this next picture, and that is the pole that I get most of my trout on and so does he.   It isnt a great picture of it Ill try to find or take a better one.

I think that makes 4 days in a row of fishing.     ;D      I suppose I could say I am fortionate and unfortionate enough to be able to do that.

Yep it would be called catching and not fishing if we caught fish everytime out.   I just enjoy being able to get out.
The pond with the brookies is a small put and take pond that gets stocked a few times a year.    The trout dont seem to winter over too well, but there is the occasional holdover.    But last year or the year before someone dumped some rudd and bass in there and that has not helped the pond out either.    The regular baitfish in there have decreased and numbers and sometimes you cant get your bait down to the trout cause the rudd get so out of controll.    But it is still fun to fish.

Are they 3N brookies? Also known as triploid? That's what they stock here......they hit the eggs with high pressure......throws one chromosome out of whack and they don't produce eggs or sperm. Basically it turns them off in the spawning time of year and they grow bigger.......you do the hatchery thing I'm sure you know about it.

No they arnt triploid, They are stocked in some streams in hopes of starting a better population and one of browns in stead of brook Trout.   Whirling disease really affects and kill s off the brookies, where browns carry the disease but it doesnt really affect them.

Got out for the bulls again tonight with the expectations of doign well with this warm weather adn the front moving in.   Well it was exactly the opposite.   No bullheads at all tonight.   Me and bensmen were both there and a few nibbles but no real takers.

Just got a bunch of panfish before the sun-set.

A crappie (the only one of the night)

A nice sunfish

and check this bass out a real monster.    ;D

And the keepers tonight

lol....   Sunfish....     Nice thing about them not having a length limit is we put a few in out pond behind out house that we put in.   The pond is about 250 gallons.   And dont worry these panfish will be well fed.

I think the hatch was midges tonight, is that what they were?    Whatever they were their were tons adn tons of them,

Yep, midges.  You could hear the clouds of them up at camp last weekend.

Gave it a shot for a few hours tonight
Lost one heck of a Bullhead right at shore.   A beauty   had to be around at leaste 18 inches, that is a downfall of using an UL for them, you are bound to loose a few, but you can see them hit better.
Managed to land a few though and brought home one more.    A real fat 11 incher.

Did get a few panfish before sundown.

Here is one of the perch that have a bluish tint in its skin, but it didnt show up too well in the picture.

The full moon made the worm an easy find for perch, so I had to weed through a ton of perch.  Must have just caught 30 or 40.    I should have kept some.   A lot were 8-10 inches long.

Had a good time though, I was fooling around flipping rocks near shore and found a madtom,  Ill find out tomorrow if it is a tad-pole one or the other kind.

Got out for a few hours adn got into the Brook Trout.   Me and Bensmen came home with our limit of stockies.

Here are a few pictures.

This one had soem nice coloration in it

and the final product.   If Chucker comes out to visit this weekend he will have his choice of a bullhead or trout meal.   :D

Looks like rain and cold weather this weekend,   Dunno if Ill get much fishing in.

Startign to look forward to my trip to montanna in a month.
