Asking about pike in the root is like asking about walleye fishing on the upper Missouri stretch. You can ask but your responses r gunna be slim 2 none.

I've heard the backwaters between Lolo and Missoula are productive. You should be able to find them in most of the calm water, I'm guessing they're still spawning shallow.

I've seen them in there and I've seen folks using buzz baits for them.
