I don't think there's less fish, just less biting fish. I heard Cornell talk earlier this week - good news with the gobies is that this years walleye hatch it growing faster than ever feeding on immature gobbies, eventually that will mean more fish, unfortunately they'll be full and won't bite. They said catch rate for walleye is down about 50% even bass catch is down over 30%.

I fished last Sat am and tried to get on the fish I found the previous week but they had moved on, spent over 4 hours and could only put one bass in the boat - only bite I had.  In the past I've done better in August fishing after dark, maybe I'll try that next time out.
shut up and fish

Matt did they mention what the adult walleyes were eating? Are you guys finding a lot of gobies in their stomachs?

I wonder if eating gobies is a behavior that has to be learned early if that makes sense. So the current class of adult eyes might not eat a lot of gobies but the adult year class 4 years from now might eat mainly gobies.

If the catch rate is 50% and I bet the actual amount of people fishing is probably 50% so that means about 25% of eyes are being caught compared to last year.

You want heat.  I'll show you heat.  Been in Grand Cayman all week.  Air temp is 90, real feel with humidity is 115.  That's hot!  Great snorkeling. Swam with stingrays and a bunch of tarpon.  Great place but very expensive. Decent charters start at 1200 Cayman. That would be 1500 US.  I passed.

I hope this warm pattern doesn't carry into the fall.  :'(

There is a wicked thunderstorm rolling through Constantia right now.  :o
