I also run a 112# 36v 60”a 72” shaft would be better in rougher water on my Lund LE , I get about 7 hrs trolling and all day spot locking , and it is going on 13years
And my bud has an 18’ aluminum 70# 24v
he gets 2 days use out of it moving around and spot locking he’s a perch chaser

The only reason I went with the terrova instead of the ulterra on my 16.5 alumacraft was at the time, the ulterra was brand new and I didn’t trust it . That turns out to be a mistake because I have not heard if many break downs with it. The prices have really nuts up since then so I think it’s out of your pride range.  With a glass boat if your size, the 36 volt terrova probably is your best bet.
Jake, nice catch. I’ll probably hit  an other lake today, Erie Friday and Oneida again when the big girls show. No doubt, I’ll see you out there.

I just changed last year from Minn kotta to the Motor guide. I bought the Motorguide XI5 36V 72 " 105 LB thrust,  and have nothing but good things to say about it thus far.  The steering on it is incredible, and Spot lock works flawless thus far, the only thing you lose is the Visual display on the remote feature. Overall couldnt be happier with my purchase and was under 2K as well with built in transducer on unit.
Just put me on ice and ill find water!

Big thanks to all for all the trolling motor advice!
Especially to Flukeman for that in-depth reply.
Much appreciated!

I never would have thought about the importance in regards to shaft length. (Ok, I know I set myself up big time here...  :D)
Pretty sure I'll go 36V as I agree it's better to be over-powered than under.
No doubt I'll have other question as I get further into my research.

Thanks,
PerchEyes

P.s., a quick search of the internet seems to indicate that to integrate autopilot with the Simrad I need the following:

To use the trolling motor autopilot functionality, the following is required:

MotorGuide Xi5 trolling motor with Pinpoint GPS (available from MotorGuide)
MotorGuide Pinpoint GPS Gateway (available from MotorGuide)
NMEA 2000 network
Software version for the MFD must be NOS 59 or higher

I too was concerned with the ulterra as I did see on a friends boat him having trouble on really hot days getting it to deploy. I'll be upgrading shortly since it's been a couple of years and more guys I know have and really like them. Over the $1500 though.

A late fishing report.

I did my maiden Fall 2021 wader fishing trip night before last.
Fished south shore, mid-lake.
There was a strong WNW wind with a nice chop on the slightly tainted water.
Conditions looked good so I was optimistic.
Unfortunately, the fish either weren't there or weren't hungry for Pearl Challengers.
Not a touch!

Most likely the water is still too warm.
Might try again in same spot tonight.
