Title: THANKS MAC!! (Lake Erie Mack Attack 7/24/06)
Post by: fishryc on Jul 25, 2006, 05:25 AM
 Hey Mac!
I just wanted to express a big public Thank You to Mac for his generous expedition yesterday out on Lake Erie yesterday. Although I was a little tired from two days of trying to "keep up" with the D-Man in the adult beverage department whom was at my house over the weekend, I had a great time and learned a new technique for catching yellows (downriggers for suspended fish; My only real success for yellows has been Lake Oneida with worm harnesses or jigs on the bottom.)
Great job of captaining through the 6 and 7 foot rollers too, Mac, Oak, and Arch! It was a little choppy!!
I wish I could have stayed a while at your place though, but I had to be where I am right now at 6:15 AM, work. (BTW, Mac, what did you think of the "gourmet" sausages; very interesting combinations of seasonings I feel (Parmesan cheese and fresh dandelions, etc.)
Anyway, Thank You again Mac and don't hesitate to give a holler if you need a seat filled in the future ;)!!
Also, I don't know if you're on line at camp, but enjoy tour week off!.......

S

3 different sausages? fishryc gets them from a specialty deli or butcher around his way, absolutely delicious

Ok, as Arch said... pics to come!  ;D

It started off as a pretty good day, waves were up but not extremely bad. Maybe 2-3ft'rs.
We had all the lines out and fishing by 7:30 or so and the first hookup came at about 8:30AM.
D-man was first up...(but Arch thought it was his because it was the rod he was watching...lol)
(https://www.myfishfinder.com/fishing_forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv132%2Foakorchardfishking%2FMacsMisfits01.jpg&hash=e988b517cd42a36c22bcf848c34d31ff)

Next up was Arch... He was happy now!
I think his was a little longer than D-mans, but weighed less...
(https://www.myfishfinder.com/fishing_forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv132%2Foakorchardfishking%2Ffb391097.jpg&hash=a4c0b57331e85db4e1a51d70caeb236e)
(https://www.myfishfinder.com/fishing_forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv132%2Foakorchardfishking%2F419d4974.jpg&hash=b4d7628dc6938791418eb31d77de2989)

Next fish was supposed to be Fishryc's, But we were clearing lines and the one I was checking had this little
guy on there. Smallest one of the day, but still legal and a good eater...
(https://www.myfishfinder.com/fishing_forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv132%2Foakorchardfishking%2FMacsMisfits06.jpg&hash=6093c75424e2c8514001bbf0cee95640)

Then we finally got Fishryc up there, but unfortunately it wasn't the hog wallys that the other guys got.
It was however a nice juvenile Steelhead that will taste great in the frying pan...
(https://www.myfishfinder.com/fishing_forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv132%2Foakorchardfishking%2FMacsMisfits08.jpg&hash=7ff30acb8630ad01cb15263dbffed312)

And then there is my friend Bob... He took ALOT of ribbing for the rest of the day because his first fish was lost at the back of the boat. Could have been a walleye, could have been a BIG sturgeon... we will never know!
But it didn't take long, and he got to redeem himself... which lightened up SOME of the ribbing!  ;D
(https://www.myfishfinder.com/fishing_forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv132%2Foakorchardfishking%2FMacsMisfits09.jpg&hash=8af7b5fff6e27a407940437a27836e9b)

Well, by now the day has been long, beers were consumed and the waves were getting taller.
So at about 2ish we cleared the lines and headed back in to port, done at about 3:30 and back at Mac's for
relax time. After more beers and good conversation, fish were cleaned and dinner was cooked, But before the fish were
cleaned we all got together for a group  photo...
(https://www.myfishfinder.com/fishing_forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv132%2Foakorchardfishking%2FMacsMisfits10.jpg&hash=9b93b776852d22229080755083216a37)
we all had a great dinner (Thanks for the tasty sausage Fishryc and D-man), and afterwards even had an awesome dessert, Mac's daughter brought us Key Lime pie!... Yummy! ;)
Bye this time we had a couple more beers and some more good conversation, but we were all pretty much
dead dogs from the long day, nice weather and beers!
(https://www.myfishfinder.com/fishing_forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv132%2Foakorchardfishking%2FMacsMisfits14.jpg&hash=d3dc92dccd3557805d7487e7177272c1)

And to cap off the day... another beautiful sunset from the view of Mac and Donna's Patio...
(https://www.myfishfinder.com/fishing_forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv132%2Foakorchardfishking%2FMacsMisfits13.jpg&hash=96190f6945da993e5c0987672492f4dd)

Thanks again Mac and Donna, for the great time and good hospitality!
Also, thanks to everyone who joined us, good crowd and good company. Thats what makes the times fun and memorable!

Hey Mac, how come you're selling the boat?

This was taken from another thread that MAC has going about designing his new boat...
It will answer the question of why he is selling it!

I think Oak's suggestion of keeping the current boat and just getting a smaller one for inland lakes is a good idea.
As you said- You wouldn't of wanted a smaller boat on Monday!

Mike -

The thing is that Donna and I are the only ones using the boat these days.
My two boys are busy with college, jobs, and chasing skirts.

We need something that is a little smaller that I can launch in my camp.
I really don't go out in the rough stuff anymore by choice.
And when I'm out and it starts to kick up I go in.
Monday, you are right, it was good to be in a big boat.
5 years ago my boys went out with me all the time and a big boat was a good investment.
Nowadays I need something little more flexible and smaller.

Two boats, and the associated cost, just isn't in the cards today.
At retirement, maybe.
But not today.

Thanks Mike.
