Camo:  Sorry to hear about the rig.  I have relied on Andersens Boat Shop in Burnt Hills for my past repair needs, but nothing too major, mostly maintenace.  I can find the number if you would like.

found a great site for parts to old Mercs.
http://www.oldmercs.com/contents.html
Well, I ended up going to Andersons for an estimate. Parts really aren't all that bad, but man the labor is what kills ya. Didn't check out cohoes yet, but so far they are the only ones who would look at such an old outboard. Boat Works said they would look at it, but they really didn't impress me on the phone in talking about the parts. Andersons at least listened and where talking parts, SS#, to look up parts, and just sounded like they know what I was talking about, heck I was looking at the schematic naming parts and they were checking availability, so far they get my $, unless it is too much $$, LOL.  ;D
Thanks for all the help, guys.

Two weeks - That's prime time.  Good Luck with the rig. Last year I put mine away the day before the blizzard.

I called the shop today and the motor is apart and on the bench, waiting on parts, now. SHOULD have it by next week. Man, oh man, can't wait. Yea, I don't plan on putting it away until snow flies and ice has formed.  :)
Next door neighbor just got a free boat from his friend, little 10 footer w/ 7.5 HP self-contained outboard and trailer, 2 seater. He was gleaming.

Well, got the call this afternoon while I was  :sleep1:   :w00t: Wow, I just hope that it doesn't need anything else.  :-\ Sucks though, day 3 of 7, so I have to wait till Thurs. or Friday next week to put her in the water. But, finally after a month I will have her home again, in working condition. Another bummer, Toga is still charging.  :P Never get a break.  ;)

well, the motor works and no leaks, but it takes forever to get it idling right to put it into gear and moving forward.  :-\ I'm going to try and sell the boat this spring and get a newer more reliable one. Might just dump it off on the dealer that I buy my newer boat from, for a downpayment.  ;D
I did get it out before I put it away for the winter on Toga and got a few perch and pickerel.  8)

My 1st boat was a nightmare, paid 2800.00 and fished 1 day with it.Thats not including repairs that I tried to make.
It ended up having a scored cylinder.Back then I did'nt have the money for repair so I sold it a couple years later for like $500

yes a nightmare it is, but we all have to get screwed once to learn from our mistakes. I've looked at a few other boats in the fall and all had the same or similar problems.  :P and people still want come down on there price even when they know it is a headache and needs repairs, not again.  ;)
