Today no fishing - smoking some beans and chicken breasts

Don't fish around the 4th - I only fish small lakes and all the commotion (boats and fireworks) is terrible for where I fish

Just got done cleaning a combo of 21 pumpkin seeds and perch. Got off Chautauqua Lake at 1:00 as the sun and traffic was getting intolerable.  Kids (21 and 19) had a blast. Saw a NICE musky swimming around. Ended up with 14 ounces of fillets for the freezer.

I kayaked on the morning of the 4th on the black river in Lewis county (Lyons Falls to Glenfield). I was kayaking with a group and i was the only one fishing, so i didn't take much time or exert much effort into fishing. Couldn't take the time to try and fish an area, other than taking a single cast while floating by, or i would get left behind.

As such, never caught a thing.  That water is so black, i don't think the fish could see my bait no matter what I threw anyway.
