Title: Return from Two Weeks In Da UP
Post by: Teacherpreacher on Jul 20, 2021, 03:28 PM
Made the 384 mile trip from Hobart to Crystal Falls, MI, pulling my old boat on July 3 in exactly 6 hrs and 20 minutes with my buddy Scotty following. Left at 5 am and the traffic was super light on I80 , I294, I94, M43 to Greenbay, M141 to Crystal Falls.
It was 92 and humid when we got there and the same on Sunday the 4th. We unpacked, relaxed and stayed in the shade. Monday morning the humidity disappeared and the temps were in 70's until I left to go home on the 17th. God's country for sure!!!!! Two mornings I turned the heat on !!!  :laugh:The fishing was a challenge! Bluegills were totally done with the first spawn. Hundreds of empty beds. We caught 60 some the first 3 days in 8'-16' of water then they were gone. Never found them again. Bass fishing was fantastic, both smallmouth and largemouth. Stepdaughter and her guy and my two grandsons were there the second week. Oldest boy got his first keeper bass on Hot-n-Tot and stepdaughter's guy got first two fishing out of a boat. I caught LOTS of bass. Both on cranks baits, surface and flies!!!!
Great trip! God is good!!
Having a Stress test in the morning. Having a bit of discomfort in the chest area and behind shoulder. Hoping it's muscle??

Glad to hear you had a great time. Yeah get the stress test done. Nothing to take a chance on.

I know exactly where you were. Went up in August years ago. Lots of suspended bluegills and 12 inch smallmouth which we released .

Yes, Teacherpreacher, God is good... Good to hear you enjoyed your time away in creation with your family.  Catching the fish is indeed the icing on the cake.  Sincerely hoping/praying that you testing identifies the source of your discomfort and a conservative solution can be offered.  Keep casting and stay focused on Him...

Good to hear you had a good trip Teach! I was concerned with all the rain that’s been moving through up that way. We got rained out and left early from the cabin, but had a great time while we were there. Some day my wife and I plan on making up to the UP, maybe this fall. Hex

Thanks to all! Will report results of stress test.
And of cource there are always challenges! Grass was 8" tall Sunday due to all the rain but got it mowed.
Computer not turning on? Needed a new screen!
Pulled truck into garagae yesterday, hit button to close door, sounded like all heck broke loose! Scraping, popping, banging! 4 rollers came off, twisted, door on angle half way up! Was able to raise it far enough to get truck out. Boat not damaged. This morning sitting at angle waiting for repair guy and a total new door.
Life is still good!! ;D ;D

I had about 12” grass to mow at the cabin when we got up there last week, but we didn’t make it up in June so I expected that, but mowed it early and hit the stream right after. Wishing you well with your test Teach! Hex

Having Angiogram next Tuesday morning 7:00am. If artery blocked will probably put in another stent. Rather that then open heart!

My mother had two stents put in at 83 recently and is doing fine even after a hear attack just before that.
