I like trolling with downriggers. Gold number 28 Northern King spoons. Here's a picture of a great day a couple of weeks ago. Limited in an hour 25-32".

If I am in the boat I like to troll or cast rattling crankbaits, larger spoons or swimbaits and other soft plastics.
I use mostly the same lure when fishing from shore. :)
A good sized live or frozen bait fish a few feet under an equally large float can sometimes produce some nice sized pike.
This is method good from shore or in the boat. ;)
In my area we can't use live fish as bait, so I usually use a large frozen smelt or regular sized frozen mackerel.
Just like what I would use when ice fishing.

Took in a 38 inch from one of our Indiana members here that was caught along with others casting for smallmouth bass. I always get some in during the fall that come up in shallow water this time of year.
