Salmon fishing Alaska
« on: Aug 27, 2005, 07:01 PM »
Took a couple photos from a recent trip on the salt water of Prince William sound.  Managed to catch some nice fish and take in some of the finest beauty in the world.

A "double" one halibut of 50 lbs. and a nice fat yelloweyed rockfish.  Both fish are commonly found in deep water, and make for excellent eating!

Black rockfish are common fish found throughout the sound.  Good eating and decent fight.

Catching bait!  Gotta get a bucket of herring before heading out.  Jimmer fills all the hooks on his Sabiki rig during this pull.

My largest silver salmon (coho) ever!  This fish weighed 19.2 lbs. and would have placed 1st in a local salmon derby "if" I would have bought a dang derby ticket!  *&%)&@)#&)@* Fishing!

Downrigger fishing near oil tankers.  The tankers are being guided by the tugs out of the narrows area.  Notice the line of "cr@p" in the foreground?  That's a tidal line of spawned out humpies!

Fishing isn't a matter of life or death, it's much more important than that!

Camofish,  No orcas..... but some healthy iceburgs!

Barleydog,
Always, always , always buy a derby ticket. That fish was worth $15,000.00 buddy. Looks like you had a good trip, love those black bass. Everyone likes to target halibut and salmon down there and there is so much more available.

KEvin,
GRRRRRR!  I know, I know!  Don't know what I was thinking :P  I like bass fishing as much as salmon.  Wish there was more time in the day!

Hood,  Come on up!  Not sure how big the wieght was?  Think it was a 48 oz., but could be a 24???  Big ol' wieghts for hitting bottom @ 300 ft. in tidal conditions. ;)
