My God look at these fish! Eye candy! I guess it's basically wilderness down there. These are all wild fish that were introduced years ago as eggs. (Got these pictures off the Internet).

Nice fish, but better camera work. Sure sounds like a cool place to fish

Have dreamed of it many times... It is so wild down there that they have a saying; "A man without a horse is no man at all" or something close to that...

Long expensive trip for slimers-
Pellet heads, private water, not my cup of tea-

On the list for sure.

I have talked to guys that have been, they were not fishing private waters... You are right, if it is just private water, it is a long way to go...

Looks expensive to stay at the lodges. Looks like they cater to the corporate world and wealthy people. You know it's expensive when they won't list the prices on the webpage.

maybe its just me, but if i was going to fly to a different continent, i would want to chase the native fauna, not some invasive stocked fish.
-
If its all tank scrubbers cross it off my list. I was not aware.

im sure someone will say theres probably some natural reproduction

It's my understanding (and I could be wrong) that in many cold rivers of the world you can find trout that had been stocked there over a century ago by the English from back in the time when the "Sun Never Set On the English Empire"... In the Himalayas, New Zealand and West coast of South America, to name a few that "took". Is there any evidence of the Patagonia fish are "put & take"?
-
I know they have at least two gov't run fish hatcheries that supply many of the rivers, they are also one of the biggest countries in terms of salmonidae aquaculture.

You are spot on from what I've read.
At one time they used to bring eggs up from the southern hemisphere to produce off season fish. No need for that anymore,.

It can and it will!

i would rather travel to new zealand to fish for trout. check out some of the pictures and videos of trout from there. makes patagonia look like nothing. not to mention they are more wild than the fish in patagonia.
-
I was always under the impression that Patagonia was much wilder and more isolated than New Zealand. Pretty much a wilderness.

Trout were never native to Patagonia. They were introduced a while ago and took hold.

They are not native anywhere in the southern hemisphere including New Zealand. Eggs were shipped down there around the turn of the 20th century.
Just because they are a naturalized species doesn't mean their habitat isn't wild and they don't grow large.
