After postponing our spring trip for a week we made the right choice..... First time wearing shorts for more than one day... ;D Brook Trout fishing this year was 0..... Don't understand.... Last year the ice was out for 4 weeks before the trip, this year just six days.... Lakers were there all the time if you wanted to fish.... My camera took a dump on the 2nd day so pictures are a compilation of our cell phones.... Another reason it took so long....
We stayed at a different lean-to which had a large birch tree fall on it and supplied us with enough wood for the weekend..... ;D We cleaned it up and put some posts up to make it worthey..

Not sure because we catch them on dead smelt from shore all the time at night or if we feel like we take the boat just off shore and catch them casting stick baits.. Both seem to work very well..

The fish with a crankbait stuck in its noggin, was that a rock bass? and if it was do you guys eat those and are they any good? We had them on our lake when I was little but my Dad would never let us eat them, not sure why, probably he just didn't want to clean them :)

I used to annoy a couple pair of kill deers at grandparents when I was a kid.. nice pic dom, yesterday I stumbled on to a red wing blackbird nest with eggs in the grass..

Nice pics Dom! I like the way that you guys approach tournaments...catchin' what's bitin' :) LOL I know, when it's over, the pressure is off, then it's back out for some fun. I used to do that too. I hated weigh in's, just wasting time while the fish could be biting. But, money is good too I guess.

sure does look like a great spot for the scumfrog....thanks for sharing your fun day on the water.
My son and I tried to get out Friday night and got ran off the lake with a storm while out in the canoe at camp, he caught 1 small bass on the 1st catch and that was that....Fish On!

In spring, the mountains may flourish with oyster mushrooms or morels. In the summer, foragers will often find wood ears on logs and stumps or basketball-size puffballs. And in the fall, there are golden chanterelles, hen of the woods and porcini. In all, there are nearly two-dozen different edible varieties of mushrooms that grow wild in Utah.

That would be awesome... But I'm calling him an 8 till he is hanging... ;D For some reason we have bad genes that don't produce brow tines and or odd number of points.... So the other side might be only 3 or 4...

Sometimes I ride my bike down to I-81 north or south access, and there is also a bridge on Caughdenoy road I fish under. My dad and I usually go fishing on Oneida Lake on the weekends.

Looks like Josh has a snap on the end of his line...probably was throwing cranks, then put the frog on. Never do we use snap swivels. Funny thing is...I went out and checked his other bass rod....Palomar knot... ;)

Sometimes I ride my bike down to I-81 north or south access, and there is also a bridge on Caughdenoy road I fish under. My dad and I usually go fishing on Oneida Lake on the weekends.

8/11/13 Fished Oxbow Lake tournament. Was hoping to be repeat winners and would have been if I didn't drop a 3 pounder with 15 minutes left.. >:( >:( Still came in 4th place with 4 fish to win $125..

There were 38 teams this year... Not sure how many acres the lake is but its not very big at all... Then all the people who have camps on the lake come out with there boats pulling tubes and skiers...
There were only 5 teams with 5 fish and we beat two of them with only 4 fish...

sounds like a pretty fun tourney other than the power squadron churning up the whole lake, the 4 fish you guys had must have been nice to out weigh 5 from 2 of the other teams

Congrats on being in the money Dom! Nice fish! I know the feeling about falling a bit short in a tournament, had it happen once to me too, a big fish at the boat that would have given us big fish easily pulled free after a run under the boat. We finished in 2nd in that tournament, lost out by 3 ounces.
Big fish pay out was $500, tourney winners won a Rolex Watch and $2K. We got $500 and a case of outboard oil! From a pride standpoint, we were happy, but man seeing those $ walk away from us stung a bit.

Nice fish....I had the same problem with walleye when I went for bass this evening but did end up with 2 nice large mouth....I think herb has meet beat for smallest walleye though ;D
