2012 SALMON RIVER - SALMON AND STEELHEAD Thread
« on: Jan 01, 2012, 11:42 AM »
Happy New Year everybody !!!!   What a year it was last year.. Probably the longest and best steelhead season I've ever seen in 33 years. Last spring's fish were extremely plentiful, but a bit on the small side, but just when you thought you had seen it all, some big boys showed up in descent numbers in October to prove to people that Lake Ontario can still produce quality as well as quantity..... .... The Salmon Season was a good one, definitely one of the top 10 coho's runs I've ever seen in mid September and their still kicking around now. The kings were of high quality this year, the runs were average, and most were average size , but the size of some were something else..... I weighed in 3 over 32lbs and one that topped out at 35lbs......  You name it and we had it...Hope everyone enjoyed the first 3 threads and maybe picked up a few tips and timed a few runs or just laughed a little. I Look forward to hearing everybodies fishing reports or stories or just some BS from the Salmon River and surrounding areas this year.
Please feel free to posts pictures, I think everyone on MFF enjoys looking at pictures of our area. I hope everybody has another great season..   Shane M.

I'll start off the Pictures with one from yesterday.

Well the new year started for me with some chromers. I caught 5 and got pictures of 4. I hooked 9 this morning and my buddy Chris landed 5 for 6 in the schoolhouse So out of 15 we got 10 to the bank.

16 kings, 100 dropped!! Its not all about how many you get to the bank, its about the fun and friendship!

If you have seen the movie Forrest Gump, the scene where Lt Dan has it out with the storm on the boat. I can picture you standing at "the bend" yelling at the whiteout...  ;D
