ONEIDA LAKE DIEHARDS THREAD 2012

Here we go again! This is the earliest ice out in as long as i can remember so lets get on the water you diehards!

Cant say i ever fished Oneida!  always wanted to, father in law and his buddies made the Pilgrimage every year (from Buffalo area) but it fizzled out.  maybe i can talk them into it this year.

is there anywhere to camp with access to the lake?  any sugestions? that said, has anyone ever hit the water in a canoe?  if they dont go thats what i am stuck with.

 i would totally want to stay over if i have to drive almost 3hrs to get there.

verona beach state park has tent site's or a quick google search of onieda lake camps will put you in the right direction a canoe can be very tricky on onieda it can go from flat as glass to 3 footer's in the blink of a eye hope this help's ya

Oneida Shores also, west end, some decent fishing, more importantly most  (not all you still have to watch) of the bad blows are out of the W or SW leaving that corner of the lake the least likely to be problematic for a canoe.  Within 1000yards of the park eye's, bass, pickeral, smallies, & HUGE pumpkin seeds can be found without too much trouble.

Thanks guys thats a start.  i was actually looking for more of suggestions then locations. i am sure there are plenty of places to shack up around the lake just looking for the places people like.

Maybe i will see ya out there sometime. i will be the guy in the swamped canoe...ha-ha

Peepers out in force the last couple of nights over in "Toad Harbor."

probably have to fish bullheads from the boat. not enough water on the shore.   later...

Yup and they keep pumping it out of the lake. dont really understand that.
