Lake Springfield

I am coming over from Indianapolis the first of September to do some fishing on lake Springfield. I have 2 questions. The first is can anyone offer any advice on how to fish the lake. I love to beat the banks and was curious if this lake is good for that. The 2nd question I have is that we are staying at the Super 8 in Taylorsville and was just curious if that is a safe hotel. Thank you for any help or advice you have.
