Won’t be this week in the lower river.
Ice boom started being pulled yesterday
River will drop in temp till it’s all gone.
Maybe in the next couple weeks you can get them at the base of the iron stairs behind Artpark in Lewiston.

The ice boom looks like spaghetti.  There are parts of it all the way down to the international bridge.  What a mess they have on there hands.  A big section is on the reef down stream from the intake. If he smelt wait for the boom to come out it will be June! LOL.  I'm heading there tonight to give a look see at Artpark and Lewiston.

Still too early.
There’s smelt in the lower river but they are out in the middle and deep in schools waiting for the shallows to warm.
Another week.

But please let us know if you find something different.

Thanks.

Hit Lewiston last night. Ice is still flowing down River. Talked to a few guys. Nothing the last couple nights. After the wind last week, the ice boom is more exposed. What a mess. I bet the smelt a running in other trips along Ontario. Oh well. Patience.

Last week's report in the BN -

"If you were wondering about the smelt run, Mike Fox of Lewiston reports that he had his first report of smelt. He saw one caught earlier this week. Yes, one. Water temperatures could be causing issues with the run. If the ice starts to dissipate and the waters begin to warm into the upper 30s and low 40s, we could still see some type of a run."

This week's report -

"No smelt as of this writing."

One of Bill Hilts last reports was large pods out deeper, yet to come in due to temps.
I don't dip for em, a friends states he has not done any good yet.
Internet heros give it a rest!
