One of my best spring time tactics is to find a nice weed flat close by a deep drop off ,and use a twitch bait like a rattling rouge or husky jerk. Also I find the larger size baits to work nicely . I found this pattern while fishing for muskies a few years ago , the sky conditions need to be low light or overcast . This pattern also weeds out many of the dinks . 


Good Luck       and make sure those hooks are sharp.


I have to do some volunteer work for the warren county sportsman federation ( kids fishing derby in hacketstown) on saturday so maybe I can hit the waters on sunday .

I'll be jigging with a worm or  fathead & trolling useing stick bait's &  shallow-running minnow crankbait & using a lighted bobber to suspend a minnow in 5 to 10 feet of water. So we'll see what happen's

It looks like you have all your bases covered , one other tactic for you . When you troll try using those clip in line boards like the yellowbirds or offshores . They do work for all fish from trout to walleye even muskies .

You don't need down riggers, you just need a rod holder , The boards clip onto your line and pull your line off to the side of your boat whille your trolling.
