If the two batteries combined have more AH than the one large one then your statement would be incorrect.
That's what I was thinking. If we are talking equivalent batteries here, either the single or the two doubles, all three batteries being equal capacity and AH, wiring in parallel will double the run time.
Since it was stated the two batteries are of different age and resulting capacity. and there is no onboard fancyinverter it is best if they are unhooked and charged separately.
100 bucks gets a 2 bank charger that can charge both regardless of size, age and compacity...

Correct!Good onboard multi bank chargers isolate the batteries they are charging.And some even "move" over some of the current to the other battery if/when one gats charged quicker than the other.I fried a battery (it blew up!!!) using a charger that I thought was ok.I learned my lesson.Buy a good one.
