Bart were you fishing out of Connecticut or LI.  I lived in Milford Connecticut 2 blocks from the sound and spent every day down there.
 I do miss the salt..

Dom, Connecticut. I launch the boat anywhere from Milford to Galilee, RI but in the summer, mostly Groton (which gets me to the Race) or Barn Island in Stonington which gets me to the Watch Hill area quickly.

Can't beat the CT boat launches. They recently reconstructed the Milford launch and they also built a brewery just downstream of the launch that you can pull your boat up to for a sandwich and a beer.  I usually fish Milford in the spring and late fall in the river when the striped bass are plentiful.

Favorite time of year is fall as my boat is small but the migration takes the fish along the CT shorelines, making for some wild fishing, weather permitting.

Yeah my parents moved us to NY my middle of 5th grade..  Besides us neighborhood kids fishing the beaches every day (back then you jumped on your bike and didn’t come home till dinner) my father was a fanatic and always had a nice boat to fish out of..
 Haven’t been back in years..

The Sockeye run is in full swing, time to start putting some in the freezer to bring home. Caught these nice males on Phoebes with a light spinning rod...

This is where the salmon hold for a while after leaving the river to head up the creek, hard to get them to bite but there are enough to keep casting until it happens.
