Title: Atlantic tomcod in Hudson
Post by: Gino@Rondout on Oct 23, 2018, 04:12 PM
I've been very interested for a while to try to target this species. I have read on the DEC site that they migrate up into the Hudson to spawn around this time of year. I haven't really come across much info online as far as how to target them... I'd appreciate any tips or info on them!  :D

I don’t think I would eat them:

“The missing amino acids interfere with the metabolizing of the toxic compound PCB. This enables the fish to store unusually great numbers of PCBs in its fat without becoming ill. Good news for tomcod, bad news for humans who eat tomcod.”

They do sound like a pretty cool fish. Especially the ones in the Hudson. This article had some info, and the above quote:
