I think the 45* parachutes on each side are going to give them a really buggy look from underneath. On the first batch I used Raccoon guard hairs for the tail and under fur for the dubbing. The posts were poly yarn. The deer hair will float a lot better. Next I'm going to try Trappers's idea of spun deer hair body or maybe a humpy style body over foam
Think I need to go for a run to the park.

I used to tie these a very long time ago for finger lakes fishing. Seems the right kind of pattern.

Or less
Just happy to see the passion in another fly fisher. It's part of it. You learn to fool a fish....you find other ways to fool a fish. Not really complicated.
Just FUN!

I used to love tying fly's.. Never caught much on them trout wise but bluegills loved thos hideous things lol.. And trapper Iwould love yto meet up and fish somewhere hard part is the funds to get there... I would love to pick your brain about fly fishing steelhead cause Iyou ccouldn't tell Centerpin fishin is what I mostly do and don't have a fly rod for them... I think a fresh chromer would blow up my 5 weight lol... On a good note I picked up my buddies 8 weight yesterday and ended up catching 2 browns and 2 steel on it.. First fish on a fly rod in way to long
