Yup…Hexagenia  Limbata. Big bugs. Might take a whack at that one when I get time.
If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

Well, I’ve been playing with this pattern. Made several attempts at different methods. Not satisfied as yet. Fly tying is a learning process. At my age ….learning can be slow. Still positive though.

Always impressed with the skills on this site.
Hang in there Bob, there are lots of flies to tie, fish to catch and kids to teach

Hard for me to do much at the bench this time of year. Golf course is packed with play and tournaments. Very busy days.

Is it a mayfly? Very common hatch in Lake Erie. Never heard it called Hex around here. About an inch long. Is a hex larger?

I’ve got 12 “fly carcasses” on my bench so far.(I’ll clean up the hooks and re use them)

Having the hardest time with this particular fly. Want to make it as realistic as possible. I’m still pondering possibilities.

Want to get the curve to the  abdomen, profile, legs and a proper set of wings and head.

It’s intriguing.

Sounds like you've been bitten by that bug  !  I'm sure that when you're satisfied it will be a work of art.  Good luck rg

Maybe. Never considered myself an artist. Just an old fly fisher.

How you feeling Trapp??  I guess I've been really lucky.  I've had ill folks all around me including the wife from whom I took no precautions because I just figured I'd get it and nothing so far. Maybe that virus just can't attack old spoiled meat.

RG I can’t wait to see that bug after you’ve tied it. Everyone here is so talented.

Busy time at the golf course Rick. I don’t mind. Really enjoy being part of it. Lots of fall maintenance (and golf) going on before we shut the course down in a couple months. Haven’t fished much with these Florida temperatures, but my time is coming.

Always liked the cooler months better than the dog days.
