Here is an interesting factoid that I heard from Cornell. More shad die when it gets cold and the lake doesn't freeze. The water temp actually gets colder because it can mix with the cold air. Hence killing more shad.
Ahhhh...............violating the laws of physics again? How can water get colder than 32F without freezing?
Lol it doesn't.Wind and waves mix the top layer of cold water and it goes deeper into the water column hence cooling more water than when it is capped with ice.
